Course Description

An analysis of electromagnetic wave theory, principles of underwater sound propagation, communications systems, and weapons control systems.


Grades

Grades for this course will be computed as follows:

Homework

Homework will primarily be reading assignments to reinforce material covered in class. In some cases additional homework will be assigned.


Presentation

10 minute (max) presentation on a current weapons system (not a slingshot or knife) that incorporates some of the items studied throughout the course of this class. Weapon could be a side arm (M9 pistol, for example), a specific bomb, missile, artillery or infantry vehicle, an aircraft, or ship/submarine type.


Classroom Etiquette

Hats will not be worn in the classroom. Beverages are allowed in the classroom, snacks may be eaten in the classroom but I expect them to be put away when I start teaching, lunch is not allowed. You are expected pick up after yourselves and to maintain the classroom in outstanding condition.


Attendance Policy

In order to develop a proper understanding of Naval Engineering, it is insufficient for you to merely read the assigned material or browse the lecture pages. It is also necessary that you attend and participate in each lecture to supplement the text material. Therefore, attendance is mandatory. Absences may be excused only if arranged in advance and only on a case by case basis. Tardiness to class will not be tolerated. Once you are commissioned, it’s not cutting class, it’s an Unauthorized Absence
